FAQ

My child has never cheered before, what class would you recommend?

It's important to choose a class that aligns with your child's interests and age group! We offer recreational cheerleading classes for ages 3-14 years along with tumbling classes from beginner to advanced. If your child is just starting out, we recommend either the recreational cheer class or beginning tumbling!

What's the difference between recreational cheer and the tumbling classes?

Our recreational cheerleading classes focus on the fundamentals of cheerleading like stunting, tumbling, jumps, body awareness, building strength and working on flexibility. Our 60 minute class consists of circuits, stations, and our athletes favourite- tumble track!

Our tumbling classes focus on the fundamentals of tumbling and as you move up, more advanced skills come into play. Athletes spend their class time working on body awareness, developing skills, strength and flexibility.

What age groups do your cheerleading programs cater to?

We offer a range of cheerleading and tumbling classes designed to cater to various age groups. Specifically to our recreational cheerleading and tumbling classes, we have programs tailored to children aged 3 to 14 years. This allows us to provide age-appropriate instruction and activities, ensuring that your child has a safe and enjoyable experience while learning the fundamentals of cheerleading and tumbling.

How do I enroll my child in a cheerleading program at your gym?

We’ve made the registration process convenient and straightforward for parents. We have an online registration system called ‘Motion,’ which is accessible through our website. What is the time commitment required for my child to participate in your programs?

The time commitment for your child in our recreational cheerleading classes can be quite flexible, depending on your preferences. It can vary based on how many classes you choose to register for and how much time you’d like your child to spend in the gym.
In some cases, your child can be in the gym for as little as 60 minutes per week, making it convenient for busy schedules. We offer different sessions, such as Fall, Winter, and Spring, which typically range from 10 to 12 weeks in duration, depending on the specific session. This allows you to select the schedule that best aligns with your child’s availability and interests.

Are there any tryouts or prerequisites for joining your competitive cheer teams?

No prior experience is necessary to join our competitive cheerleading program. However, if you’re brand new to cheerleading, we recommend starting with a session of recreational cheerleading to build a foundational skill set.
Our competitive assessments typically take place around May of each year, and the competitive season runs from June to April. We offer a variety of beginner-level competitive teams as well as more advanced teams, ensuring that there’s a suitable starting point for every athlete. Children as young as 5 years old can begin their journey in our competitive cheerleading program.

What is the uniform and gear requirement for cheerleading in your gym?

For our recreational cheer and tumbling classes, we recommend that participants wear appropriate athletic clothing and indoor running shoes. It’s important to avoid baggy clothing, as it can pose safety risks during our activities.
However, if you happen to be a dancer or gymnast taking one of our recreational tumbling classes for extra practice, please note that indoor shoes are not required. We want to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all our participants, and following these guidelines helps us achieve that.

Are there scholarships or financial assistance options available for families in need?

If you’re seeking financial assistance for your child to participate in our cheerleading programs, we’re here to help. You can explore options through organizations like the Arnold Anderson Sports Fund and Jump Start. These organizations specialize in supporting youth sports and can provide valuable assistance.
To learn more and to contact them for further assistance, we recommend visiting their respective websites. They will be able to guide you through the application process and help make cheerleading accessible for all children.
